Interesting story except for the ending
The game is a series of mysteries to unravel. You play a character whose history you only gradually discover over the course of the whole game. You start out in an abandoned mining facility: what happened to everyone? Who is this mysterious old woman helping you re-establish your connection to the Force? How/why did you lose your connection to the Force? Why are people chasing you? Can you trust the various people who offer to help you? Does the Jedi Council always act wisely? Do good actions lead to good outcomes? These mysteries and questions were enough to keep me playing the game. (The graphics and gameplay are pretty dated; if you’re impressed by them, you should check out some of the games they’ve made more recently!) Unfortunately, not every question is answered, and some of the answers are less than satisfying, especially the most important question: What were the motivations of the main antagonist? I’m still not clear on that.
There are several things about this game that feel as if they were rushed through development and not thought through. The antagonist’s motivation, for one. There are a number of subplots involving intrigue among your companions, but they don’t seem to go anywhere. And they didn’t even bother to name one of your companions (“Disciple”?).
Why does this nickname have to be unique, anyway? about
